In HyperTIES, a single click on a link — prose or picture — shows a description of the destination at the bottom of the screen. Double click follows the link.

That gave users an easy way to get more information on a link without losing their context and navigating away from the page they were reading.

The definition is mandatory. An article without one cannot exist. That is why the preview is always there: it was written when the article was written, as a condition of writing the article.

The definition pane is not a tooltip. It is a persistent, titled, per-window pane. FULL ENTRY goes down one rung, into the article itself.

This is the feature the web still does not have, and the reason transclusion by hand exists: following a link is expensive, so authors paste. Give the reader the abstract without the navigation and the economics change.
